Wellington Ski and Outdoor Club (WSOC)
was built in 1949 and is based in
southern Tasmania.
The club is affiliated with the Southern
Tasmania Ski Association (STSA) at Mt
Mawson in the Mt Field National Park and has a
private lodge at Lake Dobson.
The club also owns the historic Joe Slatter
and Gingerbread huts at Mt Rufus, Cradle
Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park.
These huts are maintained by club
volunteers for the use of members. Public
access is permitted, for day use and
emergency shelter only. Payment for use is
by donation – please contact the club by using
the Contact page for payment details.
The Rufus huts are remote and difficult to
access. They provide only basic shelter,
with no bedding, heating, water or toilet
facilities. Visitors must carry out all rubbish,
including toilet waste.
